Sawtasura work policy and ethics

Introduction

SAWTASURA is a social arts enterprise dedicated to knowledge production especially in contribution to women's histories and narratives and making them accessible to the Saudi public. As such, our operations  include services that align with and further our core mission.

We encourage open communication and look forward to potential collaborations that align with our mission and values.

Before approaching SawtAsura for collaboration, please be aware of the following:

  1. We prioritize working with women gatekeepers in any region necessary for collecting efforts, ensuring respect for local cultures and practices.
  2. Sawtasura does not promote or commercialize any content. Our focus is on preserving and sharing cultural heritage without profit motives.
  3. The research process is resource-intensive and built on trust with local community. Therefore, we expect sponsors and investors to understand that they will cover these costs prior to initiating contact.
  4.  Any new documentation or recording that is done with our resources are hitherto the property of sawtasura for preservation, while artist collaborators maintain ownership of the artistic outputs. This is especially due to the lack of copy right laws in the country which allows researchers and historians to preserve the rights to their labour.
  5. Artwork produced during collaborations remains the sole ownership of the artist. Sawtasura does not take any commission from sales or usage of the artwork.
  6. Our residencies and mentorship programs are designed for educational and developmental purposes, focusing on skill-building, cultural exchange, and community engagement.
  7. Any fees charged are strictly operational costs and do not generate revenue for sawtasura. Transparency about these costs is a priority.
  8. We adhere to specific ethical guidelines in all collaborations, ensuring respect, fairness, and integrity in our interactions.
  9. Programs offered are educational in nature and are not intended for entertainment purposes.

Service Policies:

  1. For the benefit of users and the local community, we define benefits as artistic, well-being, and educational contributions that enhance cultural understanding and personal development.
  2. Sawtasura does not create revenue for the operating company at the expense of users or audiences. Our goal is to ensure that all financial practices are fair and transparent.
  3. We encourage feedback from collaborators and community members to continuously improve our services and policies, ensuring they meet the needs of those we serve.
